It’s All in the Cards
by Sharon Jeffers
MANY TIMES HAVE I STOOD atop the Kalalau lookout at Koke’e gazing at
what I have deemed to be the Gateway to Heaven. I am sure there is no other
place like it on Earth. The light there is liquid, i r i d e s c e n t , and
thick with magic. There is ample room for the imagination to leap from the
mile high mountain top and soar into realms of creation that seem to form
out of thin air, right before your eyes. Could it be that this magical land
known as Kaua'i is the portal that bridges the mysterious world of the unknown
with what we find to be tangible, practical, and real? Could it be that there
are defined influences throughout the world, determined by location and name,
that contain energies that alter our perception? I know that I feel differently
in different places. Some are comfortable. Some are not. Some make me feel
carefree and light, while others make me feel heavy and burdened. Some feel
like home, often with no particular reason that they should. It’s an
interesting phenomenon to observe. According to the ancient method of divination
known as the Mystic Science of the Cards of the Magi, the name of Kaua'i carries
the power to bring the known together with the unknown. Scientifically based,
the system combines the symbology of the playing card deck, numerology and
astrology.
This amazingly accurate form of divination assigns one of the 52 Cards of
the regular playing deck to each day of the year. Similarly, each of the Cards,
Ace of Hearts through the King of Spades, has a numeric value associated with
it. Combining the said influences together with the island of Kaua'i, the
Card of rulership for the island is the Four of Clubs. Kaua'i is the land
where time stands still, dreams come true, and creativity is heightened. Many
authors and artists are born here, and many known writers and artists come
here to live, basking in Kaua'i’s creative influences while cultivating
their gifts and talents. The energy of Kaua'i gives way to dreaming, imagining,
and the manifestation of ideas. Spirituality is profoundly present on this
island in all forms. Healing, teaching, and art forms that communicate the
ancient wisdom in our present time exist here in abundance.
The Four of Clubs influence of Kaua'i speaks of strong action associated with
expansion of the mind into higher thinking and learning, bringing ancient
bodies of knowledge into present day form to be communicated to the world.
This is the motion of intuition coming into structure. Kaua'i holds hidden
wisdom of ancient mystery schools from the past, that are now finding channels
of communication and expression through those who are drawn to visit and live
here. The history of the island’s magic is filled with some of the deepest
teachings known to man. This is the land where higher wisdom and learning
beckon to be discovered. It is from here that the trumpet blows the sound
of awakening for whoever chooses to listen. BOUT THE AUTHOR: Sharon Jeffers
